WinCal XE 4.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

This is free upgrade for all WinCal XE users.  The download consists of a zip archive of the contents of the installation CD (not a patch).  WinCal XE 4.2 can be installed directly from the unzipped downloaded files or an install CD can be created (see instructions below).  If needed,  you can request a CD.

Download and install of WinCal XE 4.2, SP1 (version 4.2.1)

You must make a full installation of WinCal XE 4.2.1 (no patch is available).

To install on your machine:

1. Make a new temporary folder.  The easiest is to right-click on the desktop and select "New Folder".  Name it "Temp".  It can be deleted once the installation is complete.
2. Download the full install zip file (~240MB) to this folder.
3. You will see a choice of Open or Save.  Choose Save.
4. In the Folder selection, select the folder you created and save the Zip file there.
5. Unzip the file (Right-click and select Unzip, or use WinZip with folder names preserved).
6. Open the "readme.rtf" file for more details on installation and the release.
7. Run setup.exe and follow instructions to install.

To install on a machine with no network connection:

Using a memory stick (thumb drive):

1. Follow step 1-4 above.
2. Copy the Zip file to a memory stick and copy it to a new folder on the target machine.
3. Continue with step 5 above and finish installation.

Burning a CD:

1. Follow step 1-6 above.
2. Make sure you have a blank CD in a drive that can burn CDs.
3. Delete the downloaded Zip file.
4. Select all unzipped files.  The file "setup.exe" should be on the top level. 
5. Right-click and select "Send to CD-RW Drive" (or "DVD-RW Drive", depending on the hardware).
6. Open a File Explorer and navigate to the writable disk drive (This may pop up by itself).
7. Use the menu "File-write these files to CD" and wait for the CD to be burned.
8. Insert the CD to the target machine. 
9. The install program should start in a while (wait for at least 5 seconds), but if not, run the file "setup.exe" on the CD and follow the instructions.
